Good Morning Gators!
Our last dual meet is this Saturday, which means Championships are right around the corner. Since there are no more Wednesday evening dual meets, there WILL be regular age group practice on 7/19 and 7/26!
First up is the League Championships. This event involves only the 10 teams in the A League (the four we faced this year in our Red Division, as well as 5 teams we didn't see from the White Division). There are NO time standards to qualify for this meet, but a swimmer must have a time in any event they are registering for; in other words they must have successfully completed the event at least once this season. Also, any registering swimmer MUST have competed in a minimum of FOUR DUAL MEETS to compete at a championship event...this is a conference rule and they are very strict in enforcing it.
The event is held over two days at the Cedar Hill Swim Club, 156 Cedar Grove Lane, Somerset NJ 08873. All swimmers 13/over will swim on Friday evening 7/28/2017 with a check-in/warm-up time of 4:15pm. All swimmers 12/under will swim on Saturday morning 7/29/2017 with a check-in/warm-up time of 7:00am. As with Roycefield and Brookside, parking is limited...early arrivals are better. I'm not sure what rocket scientist forgot that most of us have jobs and work Fridays (just wait til we announce Conferences), but in the past a few successful carpools have been set up.
The registration form is available on cranfordgators.com and Facebook. Please circle up to three events and submit the form to the Championships folder on the pool deck (or give to Super Rosie) by the start of the later practice on Friday (7/21/17 at 2:45pm)!!! Do not sign up for a relay. The coaches will assign relays based on the number of available swimmers. Each individual event is $4. Please include a check for $4/event made payable to CCPPA. If you are assigned to a relay, the team covers the entry fee.
Next week, a sign-up will be published for Conference Championships (8/1/2017 and 8/2/2017)...Conferences involve teams from the A, B, C, and D leagues (34 teams) and do require a minimum qualifying time to participate in an event. More on that next week...
p.s. DON'T FORGET THE GATOR END OF SEASON PARTY ON 8/3/2017! Details later, but it will be held at the outdoor pool in the evening!
